TOMORROW: THE BEEPLE AUCTION As we close out my show at @heft_gallery, we'll be auctioning one last piece...the @beeple Homage! This one comes with a twist: BEEPLE HIMSELF HAS SIGNED THE ARTWORK!! I offered every Homage artist the opportunity, if they felt the work fit within their oeuvre, to sign it and collect my proceeds from the sale. The aim was to complicate and raise questions around the nature of artistry and authorship in the age of AI. Beeple, guy that he is, agreed to sign but declined the proceeds. So my hand made the work, but this is Beeple's style. This piece doesn't exist without me, but it doesn't exist without Beeple either. My hand is signing the work, but so is his. So whose work is it really? Tomorrow we find out, as we auction Homages: The First 30 Days, the composite of my month of Beeples. It takes after his Everydays: The First 5,000 Days, which famously sparked the NFT boom in 2021.
