100% correct that being a good storyteller is as valuable as ever, but conflating a few trends: 1. Legacy tech media → independent — @alexrkonrad @MollySOShea @CaseyNewton etc. can make more money independently (related: obligatory @tbpn inclusion) 2. Legacy tech media → VC / in-house — longstanding trend (@moritzKBE the OG example) 3. Rising value of the writer/storyteller — Anthropic offers $350K/year content roles, every VC trying to hire a storyteller, every startup trying to hire @lulumeservey, @NFX 3-person unicorn (@Alex_Danco fits here) There's some interesting nuance around what's going on in #3 — comms vs. content vs. positioning — but all are increasingly valuable and powerful. Related prediction: "Comms" will be end up being the catch-all term for the storyteller / writer role and will be paid like a CTO.
